Great Is Thy Faithfulness
The following was a story sent to us sharing how God used music to minister directly to the heart.
This morning, the first thing that I did was my morning Bible reading. I played Wonderful Words of Life on my harmonica and then prayed.
A short time later, I was trying to get Chuck Swindoll on the radio, but there was too much static, so I got a portable radio/CD/tape-player out hoping to get Swindoll on that radio. I had put the machine away when I brought it home from the care center after Pearl was gone. As I was getting it set up, I happened to open the cover on the CD player and there was a CD in place. It was entitled, Great Is Thy Faithfulness by the Chancellors Quartet. I realized I had left this CD there from the last time I had used the machine and that this was music I had played for Pearl while in the care center just before her "home-going".
As I listened to the recording again, I felt God had a purpose for my leaving it there. the songs that were song on the recording were Great Is Thy Faithfulness, then How Great Thou Art. (This song she had requested be sung at her funeral service), and The Majesty and Glory of Your Name, and I heard the words "When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation, and take me home, what joy shall fill my heart! Then I shall bow in humble adoration, and there proclaim "My God, how great Thou art!" Then I heard His Name is Wonderful, The Old Rugged Cross, Jesus Loves Me/My Jesus i Love Thee, A Mighty Fortress Is Our God... I recalled that these songs, and others on this CD, were the last that Pearl heard while alive on this earth. Now, almost three months later, these were all being played again and I heard the words in a different light than ever before. Realizing that this was the last music that Pearl heard while here on earth, the words of these songs took on a whole new meaning--new significance--for me.
What must they have been for her at that time?
That experience this morning was a time (among the tears) of praise, adoration, and worship!
Thank you, Lord!!!
HOW WONDERFUL AND GREAT HE IS,
HIS WONDERS TO PERFORM!
